Starting today we will be counting down the 23 films in the James Bond franchise from worst to best (according to Matt's tightly curated ranking) leading up to our eventual discussion of Bond 24, SPECTRE in November. After a lengthy estrangement, Oscar and I reconvene for (no ego or hyperbole) quite possibly one of the most fruitful and rewarding podcast discussions we've ever had.
Maybe it was our time apart. Maybe it was the fact that we were positively brimming with opinions about this week's discussion topics. But whatever it was, we were firing on all cylinders tonight and we're especially proud of this episode.
That being said- it's a long one! So dig in and get comfortable.

Oscar's out of town this week and I'm currently in pre-production on a film so I thought I would take this opportunity to discuss westerns, my commitment to the genre, and the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for the production of a film entitled "CASSIDY RED".
On this episode I wax nostalgic, get personal, stew over my issues with the philosophy of crowdfunding, and finally pitch my project to you- our loyal, beloved, oh-so-attractive listeners. I promise it's not an advertisement episode. It's more of a "presentational exercise". But I'm proud of it, so give it a listen.

There is some light at the end of the first quarter movie season tunnel, dear listeners.
The first glimmer came courtesy of the recently-minted "instant genre classic" IT FOLLOWS- the first film worth its weight in DCP to hit multiplexes in months!
More light will expand this weekend when a certain 7th installment of a Corona-fueled franchise kicks off the summer movie season.

Oscar is "on assignment" this week so I'm on my own. Just a man, a microphone, and a whole lotta thoughts.
Since the multiplex has run dry of worthy content (as it is wont to do every year during the last breath dog days) I've recently retreated into familiar "comfort food" at home: Rewatching the first season of TRUE DETECTIVE, AFI 100 Years 100 Movies CBS specials, and an impromptu marathon of 3 of the most beloved film trilogies of all time.
You know what they are. You don't need me to patronize you by listing them.
Steven Soderbergh has smoothly transitioned from movies to television and his new Cinemax drama THE KNICK is already garnering some of the strongest praise of his career.
Join us as we sharpen the edges of our fine-toothed comb before using it to dissect the career of the great American masters. We then spend the last 20 minutes of the podcast chatting about the first 2 episodes of THE KNICK. But, not to worry squeamish listeners, or those of you who are woefully behind in your summer television consumption. We steer clear of anything resembling a spoiler.
It's okay. You can trust us. Does this napkin smell like chloroform to you?

That blog gave birth to a podcast and said podcast somehow made it to a triple digit episode count.
